TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE MOON.

There's a rare lunar eclipse which will be visible from Melbourne tomorrow night. Begins just before 7 but will be total from 7.52 to 9.22... They say it's likely that the moon will look blood red! Fantastical!

[ mood | scared excitement ]

What a day yesterday was:

*Offered three Volunteer positions in the area i've been trying to get work experience for the last 6 months.
*Offered an interview for a paid position in the same area (BUT it's in rural Victoria)
*Offered another interview for paid training and an education position in sexual health.

All of this put me in such a good mood!

THEN:

Dinner at the Veggie Bar (YUM) followed by
Drinks at Polly's (DOUBLE YUUUUUM)

I have some real decision making to do... and lots of revision to cover before my interviews. argh... scary excitement!

Went to "Cherry Rock 007" yesterday:

*Dynamo- Faves of the day. Wish the brass section had been louder though.
*Airborne- (oh my god, it's cock rock o'clock)... kicked arse!
*The Devilrock Four- very cool
*The Villains- great surprise, keeping an eye out for these guys
*Eddie Current- went off... shoes were thrown
*Rocket Science- If ANY ONE in that band was straight i'll eat my own head. They were awesome!!
*Tiger by the Tail- A little Violent femmes-esque so alright by me.
*The Five Venoms- Know what they are doing with those guitars and by god the lead guitarist was dressed to the nines
*Johnny Casino- kept me moving.

All in all, the rock festival was... well... Rocking BUT to the one guy wearing a 'blood duster' t-shirt and drunkenly stepping and hitting people? The front of your t-shirt was right. You are a CUNT!

Music photos [03 May 2007|02:51pm]
[ mood | creative ]

Well i wont get too far into all of the bands i've seen this year... it's been the year of the music festival/gig and i didn't get a lot of photos at them... Golden plains, soulwax etc etc

But Here's a photo of one of my favourite men:
mmm CockerCollapse )

Went to the scissor sisters gig a little while back. Was a fantastic night. Gotta love a band who name themselves after a lesbian sex act... they wore outrageous outfits, they played kick ass songs- easy to dance to and they swore like sailors. ha.

dive into the muffCollapse )

Anyway this Sunday it all happens again... Off to Cherry Bar for their Aussie Rock Festival. Woot

Last night i went to Soulwax... the modular DJ's thing.

Fiona and I danced in the DJ box, with 2ManyDJ's, and then got invited out to party afterwards... SUCH nice dudes... i think i'm officially starstruck!

Wednesday = free V festival goodness.

Easter = Wakeboarding, drinking and sambuca easter eggs for breakfast.

Went out on sat to Fed Square to see the "Tom Tom Club". Hadn't heard of them before, and had no idea what to expect, but they were wicked. Beat Boxing, Acrobatics and hot men with their shirts off (you really can't complain). I only wish i had a camera so i could have taken photos of the stunts.

I was amazed that people can actually make sounds like that with nothing but their voice and a mic. The main guy battled himself boxing from drum and bass to hip hop. And it sounded amazing. We had a dance, had a few drinks, then went to Pony to sit and chat out the rest of the night.

I also FINALLY saw 'little miss sunshine'. Great film! I'm adding it to the fave's i think. Each character was really well developed and it managed to be funny without losing anything from the story.

Anyway the rest of this week i'm working night shift so it's all go until Friday when we head to Noah's going away party (pout) and then off to see 2ManyDj's and riot in Belgium.

Books and their kooky covers [23 Mar 2007|01:16am]
[ mood | tired ]

Swing dancing tonight went well. The 8 beat class was a blast and i even got off my butt and said yes to a few lads who asked me to social dance- it's amazing how much more you learn when you let someone who knows what they are doing, lead you.

AND

after swing, we went out for drinks, as is the norm... after the first in depth conversation with one of my new friends (we usually talk a lot of crap and are as kooky as each other) We got onto the 'so what do you do' conversation... and what does he reply... "i'm an aeronautical engineer- i'm working at the moment and finishing my phd" WOW WOW WOW. Such a mind flip.

anyway off to bed now. The bike ride into the city today was long and hot and i'm tired!

P.s. The love of my life gave me free tickets to the Melbourne V festival tonight. What a star! Watch out Pixies... Watch out Jarvis... here i come!

Well i havent really been around in internet land for a while. Things have been.... hectic, lets say.

Since my last post there have been holidays, drinks, dancing, drinks, Big time parties, drinks, gigs, music festivals, st Patty's and time on the water.

I'm still waiting on the photos for most of them- but i'll put them up when i can get them.

This weekend i went up to Bundalong for New Members Wakeboarding Camp (not exactly a new member but Fiona and i went anyway) Basically days are spent on the water and nights are spent drinking. Because St Patty's was on the sat there was a green theme... which led to green food dye (good thing that stuff isnt toxic)...

I wandered down to the jetty at about 12am with a few people to get away from the campsite and keep the noise down... the jetty is, unfortunately, a lot higher than you expect... I managed to fall off the bank (a couple of metres) and into the water (thereby causing the re-fuck-ification of my torn ligament) It's slowly healing now but i think a trip to the Physio is in order.

New Members CampCollapse )

I seem to be playing a lot harder on the weekends now... i think it's because i'm working a lot harder on night shift than i do on days. It's starting to wear me down. Maybe it's time to take a break from the hardcore shenanigans? hmmm, it's a thought

5 hours left to go!

Bright side: this is being considered overtime. woo hoo

anyway time for diet coke no.3 and maybe something sugery and full of wakey wakey goodness.

[ mood | sleepy ]

Time gooooooooooooooooooooes by, so sloooooooooooooooooowly, but time can do soooooooooooooo much...

alright, now that i have that out of my system...

Life in general is, well.... great. I've been trying to look after this silly little ankle of mine but still work as often as possible. I've been able to get lots of ICU shifts, which means one patient and relatively little movement (and money coming in- YAY).

I'm back to dance class. Luckily we're just not good enough to be thinking aerials at the moment so really it's just a chance to catch up with mates and an excuse for thursday night drinks at CBD and beyond. WOOT

We've been losing at soccer... and it's just as painful to lose when you can't play and have to be the off side cheerleader, but dammit... "Kill Broccoli"!

PLUS i've now applied for 4 jobs this week in the community sector. One of which i really want (it's basically the dream job- if it comes through then i'm looking for new accommodation... so look out carlton/richmond/fitzroy or brunswick- i'm coming your way!)

Anyway "lady in the water" and its entirely TOO sleepy plot line, and my soul mate snoring beside me, has put me in the right frame of mind to sleep, so...........

Goodnight!

[ mood | Wii-full ]

Still out of commission because of my ankle... better everyday though. Took a photo the other day:

So swollen- my ankle and foot are twice their usual size AND it's going to be really hard to accessorise/dress for a bruise that has 4 colours in it. Ha.

On a lighter note i finally got to play with Matt's Wii (god i love the name of this gaming console- so many opportunities for bad taste humour). YAY FOR Wii. So much fun! Tennis, Bowling, Crazy bunny games... it's all good with the Wii...

Sunday night (after what looks like a PACKED weekend- we're going to have the Sunday night Wii challenge- drinks, Wii and great company- looking forward to attempting to take home Gold for the first "Sunday Wii Games".

Well time for a little photo journal entry!

When i went away to Apollo Bay i went to an 18th bday party- the only funny/good photos i got through the whole silly season were the 'pre-party-had-to-much-wine' shots. So here they are:

Super heroesCollapse )

Anyway that will do for now. The silly season is over and it's back to reality... work, sleep, party, work, sleep, party... blah blah blah

New Years was great. Better than i expected AND i actually made it to nearly all the parties i was supposed to.

Fireworks were only so so, but Fiona and i managed to pep up the experience i think.

Pre New Years holiday to Apollo Bay was a blast and if it wasnt so far from civilisation i would definitely enjoy the sea change for a bit... it's a real party life down there and everyone knows everyone.

Anyway photos to come, when i get off my butt and get them.

Resolutions:

Play better
Work better
Live better

if you dont know me by now... [26 Dec 2006|11:02pm]
[ mood | nothing ]

The thing about grief is
It knows what I did and
It knows what I did not say.
It sentenced me to a long long life of excavating
Things my little head can not yet understand
But I patched it all together with string andn rubber bands.

The thing about grief is
Few people know if the I goes before the E
And it's hard to give away because it's
The last thing you gave to me.
I've scrambled it together and
Collaged it in a lighted frame
Sometimes I'm scared to speak your name.

Ooh you were young a beautiful
You should have grown to be old
Like I'll grow old - no you will not.
You left me here to join the dots
I'm gonna speak them.

The thing about grief is
It took what I loved and it buried her deep away.
It makes no sense yet it's interesting in it's own way.
Some days I still assume I'm gonna see your face again
But I always assume.

The thing about grief is
It gets kind've boring for the
People who don't yet know.
Your friends - some they will wander off and
Most will wish you'd just move on sister.
But black is the colour 'cause it
Doesn't seem to have an end
I've heard it changes and
You'll make new friends.

Oooh - you were young a beau-ti-ful.
You should have grown to be old
I will grow old, no you will not.
You left me here to join the dots.
I'm gonna speak them.

[ mood | optimistic ]

Well Christmas is officially on its way. I've finished my shopping... and i'm pretty sure i lost my sanity somewhere in Chadstone Shopping Centre (if you find it let me know)

I'm usually a pretty festive little chicken, but this christmas, the first without mum, will be difficult (and made more so by the fact that boxing day is her birthday)

I wanna say Bah Humbug but i'm not going to let this year beat me! Next year can only be better!

So Cheers... to good friends, good wine and good times. Hope you all have a great silly season!

Someone died... This is a tragedy. He donated his eyes, my brother was the one to receive them... This is wonderful!

He'll be out of commission for a few weeks, but all in all the transplant went well.

Props for medical technology.
